Here at Heart and Soul we are fully committed to getting our Tamariki outside and amongst nature, because we believe that the outdoors is an ultimate provider… A great way to support this is by involving them in gardening so we are about to embark on our biggest and most ambitious project to date! Establishing and maintaining our community garden. We have a large variety of seeds for the children to plant and can’t wait to see the progress. Engaging our children in regular and on-going gardening practices will provide a range of benefits for their development. Not only will it give them hands-on access to the natural world and provide learning through all their senses – sight, smell, touch, taste and sound, but gardening will also provide positive outcomes for health and well-being giving our children a real sense of purpose, guardianship and responsibility (Kaitiakitanga) Bring on Spring!
