As we’re finally set to get a reasonable amount of rain, we have started planting out for our new native nature trail. We have set aside 380m2 to plant out with locally sourced NZ native trees along with a willow dome lookout for our children to explore. This feature will be a valuable extension of our current natural surroundings and will end up being an integral part of our nature-based curriculum.
We have also planted a large living willow dome in our home paddock, Our vision for this space is to provide a different experience to the native bush-walk where children get to dream and ponder amongst the natural beauty of a wildflower meadow.
We now look forward to establishing a larger more productive kitchen garden so the children can practice Kaitiakitanga in the planning, planting and harvesting of fresh fruit and vegetables.
